a) What was the news that Nishikanto Ghosh gave Patol Babu ?
Answer- Beyond the wildest
dreams of Patol Babu, he was acquainted with the news that he has been
considered for the role playing in a film which is being shot now a says.
Nisikanta Ghosh placed the name of Patol Babu when he was brought into notice
about such a role by his brother in law Naresh Dutt.
b.) How did Patol Babu react and why?
Answer- An offer to play a
role in a film was an incident which was unexpected to Patol Babu. Nostalgic he
was when he was offered a work of his favorite part .Out of senses and enthusiastic
he was for this unexpected turn in his life and in the sector that he had
cherished in his heart for long. He forgot the provisions in the market and
made some silly mistakes as his mind was preoccupied with the exhilarating thought
of acting in a movie. It was a trifling but an honourable opportunity to
authenticate the trust he was kept on.
c) Why had Patol Babu lost his first job in Calcutta?
Answer- Patol Babu had a
swift go with Hudson and Kimberly company for long nine years, Being a favourite
of the boss he never  faced any
hindrance. But his pleasure taking of the rose bed came to an end when due to
the Second World War Company had to close Calcutta branch leaving him unemployed.


d) How does Patol Babu reconcile to the dialogue given to him?
Answer- Utterly disappointed
Patol Babu thought of giving up the apparently trifling opportunity of role
playing in the film. A sudden reminiscence of his mentor had set fire to his
acting instinct enabling him to go through a meticulous understanding of the word
‘oh’ and bringing forth a stupendous act of perfection through precise

his role?
Answer- Mr. Pakrashi according

He suggested the director to hand him out a newspaper to make the act a realistic

g) Why Mr. Mullick turn down Patol Babu’s request for a rehearsal?
Answer- The denial for a rehearsal
by Burren Mullick was not a flaw of professionalism rather it was the delicacy
of a professional director as his drama shot for the very scene was on the
sunlight. The approaching threatening of a patch of cloud instigated him to
discard the idea of rehearsal by Patol Babu .

Answer- A denial of a
rehearsal by the director Baren Mullick does not show a casual director but
this is an embodiment of his delicate imagination of taking the scene under
sunlight. There was a patch of cloud approaching and as he planned the scene to
materialize under sunlight , so he denied a proposal of rehearsal by Patol
Babu.


h) What were the special touches that Patol Babu gave to his role to
make it more authentic?
Answer- Meticulous was the
work of Patol Babu. With the help of various declamation and inflection he
brought out the inner sense of the sound word ‘oh!’ and got the right sense
according to his role playing situation. He adjusted himself with his physical
reaction and concluded that in utterance should be sixty parts irritation and
forty parts of surprise.

the utterance of Patol Babu. The protagonist overwhelmed at the proposal of

for a proper preparation .For that he wanted his dialogues to prepare. So he
enquired for the dialogues.
b) ‘Were these people pulling his legs? Was the whole thing a gigantic
hoax? Meek, harmless men like him and they had to drag him into the middle of
the city to make him a laughing stock out of him? How could anyone be so cruel?’—Why
does Patol Babu have these thoughts?
Answer- At the discovery of
the dialogue i.e. ‘oh’ a single word or rather a sound, Patol babu was utterly
disappointed and insulted. He considered that he was made a laughing stock by all.
Their words, promises are all nothing but a hoax as he was called upon with
promise of acting in a role that has dialogues.
c) Patol Babu is an amateur actor for whom walk-on part in a movie
turns into an ultimate challenge .Discuss.
Answer- Disappointed and  insulted was Patol Babu when he got to know that
he was given a role of a pedestrian with a single sound word dialogue ‘oh’. Taking
up this as a challenge to do justice to his talent i. e. ability of acting,  Patol Babu made every possible assay to get
high acclaim. For that he went through a rigorous practice and ultimately was
highly acclaimed. 


d) Do you agree with the statement that Patol Babu is a practical man
who comes to terms with whatever life has to offer? Give reasons for your
answer.
Answer- Yes, Patol babu is a
kind of person who takes life as a journey where one has to course the path
defeating all restraints. One has to find way of living and end the life with a
satisfaction of a war fought. We find Patol babu to pace his life with a lot of
ups and downs and his sudden chance in acting also welcomed by him as a
challenge.
e) Why does Patol Babu walk away before he can be paid for his role?
What does this reveal about his character?
Answer- Patol babu’s reward
for acting was achieved immediately after acting, as to Patol Babu’s  satisfaction of successful acting is more than
the monetary reward.


            It reflects that Patol babu is a person with difference
who does not run after money but gives priority to the mental satisfaction and
peace.
f) Do you think making a movie is an easy job? Discuss with reference to
the story.
Answer- Movie making deals
with extreme hard work. Mammoth and delicate is the work. For a single shot as
we find in the story, require the efforts of hundreds. More than the actors actresses
and others play important role. The shot Patol babu was in required a lot of
thoughts, calculation, preparation and mechanical readiness.
